Virginia Beach, VA – January
8, 2008 – The GBS Group, a business
consulting and technical services company, is pleased to announce
the hiring of RADM Robert E. Traister (Ret.) of Dallas, TX. Traister
will provide life cycle management and consulting support for
company contracts in support of the Boeing Company’s Sea-Based
X-Band (SBX) radar program. He brings extensive experience with SBX,
including serving as the lead project manager for the platform from
its inception to completion of construction. As a former senior
manager for Boeing he worked the Boeing Sea Launch program and led
the Boeing proposal effort for the ship construction component of
the U.S. Coast Guard Deepwater program.
“Bob Traister’s successful background and experience with the
SBX program is tremendous” said Bob Golden, CEO. “He will work
within the GBS and Boeing life cycle management teams to identify
and solve platform engineering and operational problems as they
arise in support of our customers at Boeing” Golden added. The GBS
Group’s work for Boeing has helped distinguish the SBX as a “shining
star” for the government in terms of delivery cost and schedule.
SBX consists of a large X-Band radar mounted on a modified
fifth-generation semi-submersible platform, with complex
communications and marine systems. The SBX provides detailed
ballistic missile tracking information to the Defense Department’s
Ground-based Midcourse Defense (GMD) system, as well as advanced
target and countermeasures discrimination capability for interceptor
missiles.
Prior to his work with Boeing, Traister worked with Westinghouse
Hanford Company as the director of the company’s Projects and Site
Services Division at the country largest nuclear waste site. His
distinguished career in the U.S. Navy spanned more than 30 years and
included serving as Deputy Commander, Naval Sea Systems Command,
Chief Engineer of the Pacific Fleet, and Commanding Officer at the
