The GBS Group Awarded for Veteran Career Development

The GBS Group is pleased to announce that they have been awarded the Virginia Values Veterans (V3) Advancement Award for having the “Best Career Development.”

The V3 Advancement Award is presented to one V3-Certified Company that demonstrates the “Best in Career Development” by submitting supporting documentation for application questions and a written essay detailing the company’s onboarding and career development process. This award also features the company’s ability to effectively utilize re-training programs for their veteran workforce.

Steven Tibbetts, Chief Operating Officer, accepted this award on GBS’s behalf at the Virginia Workforce Conference during the 5th Annual V3 Awards Summit on September 28th, 2017.  Virginia’s Governor, Terry McAuliffe, happily presented this award as he recognized businesses for their ongoing commitment to create employment opportunities for Virginia’s military veterans.

We have always maintained a strong commitment to veterans, active duty military members, and their families,” said Steven. “We look forward to continuing our support of veterans to help them succeed in the next chapter of their lives and develop their careers in IT and engineering services.”

From July 2015 through June 2016, GBS hired 30 veterans, increasing the overall percentage of veterans to 31 percent of the total workforce. This year alone, GBS has attended 36 veteran-focused events across the Hampton Roads area; hosted two V3 training events; and hosted three veteran career development training events.
