Another GBS Win for Navigation and Communications Integrated Bridge System with Pilot House Upgrades

On 10 January 2022, VSE Corporation awarded a contract to The GBS Group to provide a new Navigation and Communications Integrated Bridge System with additional Pilot House Upgrades on the ex-USS ROBERT G. BRADLEY (FFG 49).  VSE Corporation is under contract with the Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) to provide engineering, technical, training and logistics support services for this former USS Navy vessel which is intended to be transferred to the Royal Bahrain Navy (RBN). 

The Royal Bahrain Navy requested that the IBS system installed to be the Sperry Vision Master System with additional selected communications and navigational equipment included. The GBS Group is an authorized reseller for Sperry Marine and will fully integrate the Sperry system and components along with other OEMs for a complete IBS.

The work will consist of all phases of support to include Design and Engineering; Procurement and Integration of material/systems; Installation Support, Commissioning and Testing.  An overview of the required Integrated Bridge System (IBS) modifications includes Electronic Chart Display and Information System (ECDIS), Radar (X-Band, S-Band), Automatic Identification System (AIS), Global Positioning System (GPS), Global Maritime Distress and Safety System (GMDSS), Speed Log, and Echo Sounder.

“This is another significant win for The GBS Group as we expand into the area of foreign military sales as it relates to modifications for ships being readied for transfer to other countries.  This IBS upgrade is similar in nature to what we have done on other classes of ships for other Military Sealift Command (MSC), but this contract expands that field for us”, stated retired RADM Rick Berkey, Chief Operating Officer for The GBS Group.
