Director, Financial Controls

In her 14 years at GBS, Julia has dedicated herself to becoming intimately familiar with as many aspects of the business as possible. From administrative processes to marketing strategies, inside sales/program support to purchasing, corporate accounting, project controls, and more. Julia’s drive for excellence in all things she does along with her can-do spirit, never saying no to a new opportunity, ultimately lead her to where she is now. In her role as Director of Financial Controls, Julia is responsible for providing oversight of the Project Controls function at GBS, as well as ensuring GBS project financial and corporate accounting teams work together as a cohesive unit.  Julia strives to ensure that processes are understood and evolved as needed, advises on the functionality of the accounting system, nurtures communication between departments, analyzes monthly project financials and company revenue, etc. She facilitated optimization of company financial reporting using automation and analytics tools to create efficiencies and near-real time access to project financials. She was also instrumental in facilitating several successful accounting system conversions and upgrades over the last 14 years. 

Julia has a strong entrepreneurial and business spirit and has started and managed several businesses of her own before making GBS her full-time career home. Julia graduated magna cum laude from Old Dominion University through the honors program with a BS in Occupational and Technical Studies and a minor in Marketing.
