Director, Maritime PMO/BD
In his role as Director, Maritime Project Management Office and Business Development, Steven brings over 35 years of maritime experience to the GBS Maritime Division. His role includes assisting the VP Maritime in contract capture, contract execution and customer relations on the larger multidisciplinary contracts. He also serves as Project Manager on a variety of the more complex Maritime contracts. Steven Miller graduated in 1982 from the United States Merchant Marine Academy with a Bachelor of Science Degree, majoring in Marine Engineering. He worked continuously with Military Sealift Command (MSC) from 1982-2015. He achieved an unlimited horsepower Chief Engineer’s license in Steam, Motor and Gas Turbine, and sailed as Chief Engineer on over a dozen MSC ships before moving ashore in 2008 to work at MSCHQ in Washington DC. Steven worked as an engineering contract manager of Marine Corp Prepositioning ships and worked with Operating Contractors including AMSEA, Keystone, and Maersk lines for two years before transitioning to the branch head of the Automation and Machinery Controls Division of MSCHQ’s N7 Engineering Group in 2010. While working at MSC headquarters, Steven achieved certification as a Project Management Professional (PMP). Since retiring from MSC in 2015, Steven worked as an independent consultant supporting the installation of the machinery controls upgrade aboard USNS SUPPLY before joining The GBS Group in 2017.
