The GBS Group Expands Maritime Operations Into The Great Lakes Region

The GBS Group is expanding its maritime operations into the Great Lakes region.

The Virginia Beach-based engineering firm has acquired Finn Marine LLC and hired the company’s founder and owner, Kevin G. Covell, to guide the company’s expansion plans.

“Kevin’s impressive background and experience in all aspects of commercial and government navigation and control systems makes him an invaluable addition to GBS,” said Rick Berkey, COO of The GBS Group. “We’re thrilled to welcome him aboard and have the opportunity to expand our maritime scope into the Great Lakes region.”

Founded by Covell in 2012, Finn Marine LLC provides sales, installation, and service for shipboard navigation and control systems to a variety of clients in the Great Lakes area. At GBS, Covell will oversee the newly established Great Lakes Region sector under Seth Heinrich, Vice President for the Maritime Division at The GBS Group.

Covell brings more than four decades of maritime industry experience to GBS, including 32 years with Sperry Marine. He also holds partnering agreements and certifications with Furuno, JRC, Raytheon and Sperry Marine.
